News Bits 3 CeC SOCORRO RECEIVES 4 COMPUTER SETS WITH ACCESSORIES AND 1 3-N-1 HP PRINTER FROM NCC Last June 10, 2010, Miss Melody M. Cocon-Regional IT Coodinator of Caraga Region, delivered 4 computer sets with accessories and 1 4-n-1 HP printer to the Community Electronic Center (CeC) of Socorro. Ms. Zenith D. Rivas-CeC Manager-Designate personally received the items and former Mayor Mamerto D. Galanida witnessed the event. CeC Socorro is honored being one of the beneficiaries for the Philippine Community eCenter Roadmap project of CICT implemented by NCC. News Bits 1 SOCORRO GOT ITS FIRST LADY MAYOR!   On June 30, 2010 at Socorro’s Municipal Sports and Cultural Center, the historic Oath Taking ceremony of the new elected officials happened before Congressman Francisco T. Matugas. The new sets of officials are composed of the following: Mayor:          Hon. Elizabeth R. GalanidaVice Mayor:    Hon. Denia T. FloranoSB Members: Hon. Arsenio A. Juanite, Jr.                   Hon. Rolando M. Tamayo                   Hon. Roland D. Mascardo                   Hon. Jose G. Alabat, Jr.                   Hon. Jayvee Veran                   Hon. Raul Romar T. Cubillan                   Hon. Ferdinand C. Gambing                   Hon. Glenn Mark C. Dizon The crowd applauded loudly when former Mayor Mamerto D. Galanida-Board Member Elect of District I, Surigao del Norte, turned over the key of responsibility to the ever first lady Mayor Elizabeth R. Galanida.  The inaugural/acceptance speech that focuses on Environmental Development, Religious implementation on Ecological Solid Waste Management, Potable Water Supply and completion of Pres. Magsaysay bridge of barangay Rizal was also remarkable. News Bits 2   LGU SOCORRO:  BENEFICIARY OF MRDP AND MAKAMASANG TUGON  PROGRAMS  The municipality of Socorro is very lucky for being chosen as one of the beneficiaries of MRDP and Makamasang Tugon programs of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) respectively.  The said programs will be launched just this Fiscal Year 2010 under the new administration of Mayor Elizabeth R. Galanida.  Submission of other required documents and downloading of counterparts are still under process.  It is expected that before the end of the fourth quarter, the two big programs will be launched.      Details...

News Bits 4 With the initiative of MPDC/MENRO-Designate Reynerio T. Canta, Sr., Socorro  launched "Plant 1-million trees" program.  Massive seedling production, Information Education Campaign (IEC) and tree planting are on-going activities in the northern uplands of Bucas Grande Island.Currently, the LGU has successfully established a municipal nursery and  simultaneous tree planting from the different sectors of the community continues.   Details...
